    CLOSING DAY FILM

    MISHPOKHE MATINEE + SING-ALONG

    In-Person Only: April 6

Special Event: Tradition! Join us for the return of a Seattle Jewish Film Festival Closing Film tradition; a family friendly screening of this classic film sing-along—with costume prizes and noshes. Sing-along to favorites such as “Tradition,” "If I Were a Rich Man," "Sunrise Sunset" and "To Life.” *All ages welcome – bring the whole mishpokhe (family)!

Originally based on Sholem Aleichem’s short story “Tevye and His Daughters,” Norman Jewison’s Academy Award-winning adaptation of the long-running Broadway musical is set in a pre-revolutionary Russian shtetl at the beginning of the twentieth century. Israeli actor Topol stars as the unforgettable Tevye the milkman, a Jewish peasant with traditional values contending with the romantic entanglements and modern ideals of three of his daughters while poverty and growing anti-Semitic sentiments threaten his village.

What does a 50-year-old film about a shtetl story tell us about Jewish tradition and current challenges today?

Closing Day Event: Get your babushkas on and singing voices ready! Join us for the return of SJFF's classic closing film tradition. Sing-along to musical favorites such as "Tradition" and "If I Were a Rich Man." Costume prizes and noshes of bubbie's blintzes and borscht. All ages welcome. Bring the whole mishpokhe (family)! Discount price for kids. Concessions also for sale.
