EARTHREELS BY EARTH DAY INDIANA

  • 180 minutes
  • Sponsored by Roberts Camera

EarthReels is presented by Earth Day Indiana, celebrating its 35th year as a Hoosier environmental non-profit. We'll start with a fun workshop and thoughts on the environmental humanities by IU professor Shannon Gayk. We'll watch the four short films (below) and then meet the Hoosiers who made them. A guided discussion with the makers about the films and their environmental themes will follow the screening.

The four films we are presenting are:

Regenerate Indiana: Land and People Made Whole: explores the interconnectedness of land and people through the perspectives of incarcerated college students at Moreau College

ROOT BLACK: a poetic documentary that weaves through time to explore the relationship between African Americans and the natural world

Worm Land: farmer Keith Miller champions sustainable agriculture and reflects on a lifetime dedicated to the land.

How to Get Away with Greenwashing: integrates investigative journalism to invite critical thinking on environmental conservation projects around the world.

This short film program has been curated by Heartland Film. Based in Indianapolis, Heartland Film’s mission is to curate, promote and celebrate thoughtful and engaging films from diverse perspectives. The films we select and exhibit – whether they inspire conversation, ignite imagination, or shift perspectives – all have one thing in common: they are films that do more than entertain.
